Children can benefit greatly from a mindfulness and meditation practice. Studies have shown that it can help reduce anxiety, worry, and stress and increase, focus, emotion management, resilience and focus. I work with children where they are at teaching them tools and strategies to manage stress that will grow with them. These are tools that they will carry with them through life.

Individual Child

At times in our children's lives they just struggle. The increasing pressure of school, extra curricular activities, social media and life in New York can just be overwhelming. This shows up in kids in different ways -

  •  anxiety

  • seeming stressed out

  •  difficulty sleeping

  •  crying quickly and at times for no apparent reason

  • being overly aggressive

  • having trouble focusing

If any of these ring true starting a Mindfulness practice may can really help help them. Learning about themselves, their bodies and mind can be very enlightening for them. Learning Mindfulness and Meditation can be extremely empowering for them. It helps them to see how they can use their mind differently, how they can relax themselves and release tension.

These tools are something that they will use for a life time - plant the seed now!

If you live in Brooklyn and would like a consultation or to discuss what might work for your child -please get in touch. Online consultations can also be arranged.

"My classes helped me a lot because I had lots of ticks and most of them went away. It helped me also to sleep well and it made me relax. Each time that I had a test I would use a breath I learnt. This changed the way I would react to my life."

Group workshops for children

Children's workshops are a great way to introduce children to a Mindfulness and Meditation practice. Workshops run as series anywhere from 5-12 weeks long. Age range is from 7+. The small group setting allows children to really open up and share their experiences, see that others have similar worries and concerns and together we can learn how to feel empowered to work with them.

Over the series children learn how the brain works, how the mind and body are connected, ways of looking at thoughts, and tools for dealing with worries, emotions and feeling overwhelmed.

They keep a note book through out the series and add to it each class with what they are learning. It becomes a great resource that they can refer back to. Groups are kept fairly small, a maximum of 10 kids and have an emphasis on a community and a support system. Kids learn a lot about themselves and each other.

Workshops can be held at Public Schools, Private Schools, Community Groups, After-school Classes and as Private Groups. We also have a studio space in Brooklyn that can be used.

“Thank you for being my teacher Brogan. I’ve learned alot of new things like how I can calm myself when I am angry and how to control my worries. I also think I am now a more thoughtful person and I notice small things.”

New Art of Meditation Classes

Studio for mindfulness & meditaiton

Studio for mindfulness & meditaiton

The Art of Meditation is a program conceived to encourage students learn about themselves, how to manage with their worries and stress while embracing their creative voice and their self worth. We learn how different emotions and ways of thinking affect us and skills such as mindfulness, meditation and restorative yoga to help us through the tougher times.  Creative art projects vary each session using different mediums to help kids feel empowered and creative.

Students have the freedom to think outside the box and explore openly with an emphasis on thought and process rather than the final 'result'. Projects are designed to be mindfully created in a group setting with an emphasis on compassion and community. There is room for a lot of self examination, sharing of experiences and self-discovery in a supportive and nurturing environment.
